View Full Version : Anyone else have a 1up.com page?

I decided I needed a place to vent about games, and since my regular blog is for work stuff only and my PC Gamer column is restricted to (a) PC games only and (b) being semi-professional and not swearing and stuff, I decided to set up a page on 1up.com.

There it is, feel free to send friend invites if you're also on the network.

Gary,
An easier link for you to use is just whitta.1up.com.
Also, because I am a company man, I have one as well, just scooter.1up.com. I hardly blog about games. Just stupid shit that comes up once in a while. I leave deep game pontificating to the likes of JD and Toastyfrog.

How can there be two people dumb enough to have the alias "BooTx"? Honestly.

I have one, but don't do much with it. A desktop shot, my games collection etc. Not worth linking to.
Bruce Geryk has his CGW wargaming blog there (http://grognards.1up.com).

Wouldn't it kind of make more sense to host these blogs on Qt3 if not on your personal web server? I for one trust Tom Chick way more than Ziff-Davis.

It would.
If Tom was in the business of providing random internet strangers with space and bandwidth for their blogs.

Oh, woe, imagine the terabytes of bandwidth one personal blog uses  I for one would gladly offer hosting for qt3ers if someone else provided the infrastructure (and by that I mean the applications to control the blog systems).

Aren't you a lunix zealot Igor? Are you really asking someone else to be your admin?

No, I'm asking someone to go out there and find/administer/code the actual program which is controlling the blogs because I already have a linux server (running Fedora Core) that I can administer just fine. But when you are in college for most of the time and working part-time for the rest, it's kind of hard to even do something as simple as modify an existing blogging system to scale up :).
After all just setting up a Drupal install and then telling people to sign up there would be just shameful.
Igor_Murashkin was uncertain about many things - 28% of lines contained a question.
What's that have to do with anything? And where can I find the stats? Oh look, two more questions ;). Maybe I'm just trying to be open minded here!

I've been known to host a guy or two. depends on what everyone would want, honestly. Brownlee uses my server with some blog software.

Well, I don't know about you, but I'm up for hosting blogs if someone's there to run them, I think it's nicer then having people depend on a for-profit company ;).

What is this "intarweb" you speak of, and where can I download it?
So as usual, somebody else has snapped up the Itsatrap moniker. Time to rebrand, I suppose.

I'm always looking for another feed.

Ok.. WTF?
If I click on a blog, clicl on "add as friend" it pops up some auto text e-mail thingy, I click "submit" and nothing seems to happen.
Am I doing something wrong?

In theory, it should send a friend invite to the other person, and only when that person accepts your invite do they show up in your friend's list.
