Well, I was a big fan of Omnitrend's "Interlocking Game System" in the early and mid '90s--Rules of Engagement/Breach 2 + 3 (the planned space exploration megagame that was to use both as modules never materialized)--so this combo was -made- for me. :)

They are very rare Tom. Even more rare than hardcore combat flight simulation fans.

Whoa, taking a little trip in the wayback machine there...
At the time, that system seemed really cool, and I liked being able to play out boarding encounters on a tactical level. Nowadays, though, people would scream at you if both parts weren't included together...

ah, that takes me back, way back. In fact, I still have those games.
Spectrum Holobyte also touted the electronic battlefield which was to merge falcon, a tank sim and some other sim seamless. That too never materialized.
Since I went ahead and did my own interlocking system built into a single game (space flight, planetary flight, first person) does that mean I win a prize? :D

When still working for EA, the Jane's folks were promising one as well.

Me too, luckily Lock On will have a flyable A-10 from the outset. What I REALLY want is an A-1 Skyraider sim. :)

Yeah, and when I was working for EA on the A-10 game (as a peon) it looked like it would have been cool too.
Ah well.
So hey, Destroyer Command -- any good? Have the patches really helped? I checked subsim and the like but their breathless approval of the release version, compared with the utter derision from everyone else makes me believe that they're not the best people to ask for an impartial review.
I played the hell out of Task Force 1942 -- and am playing the hell out of Uncommon Valor.
Hell, the games like $10, isn't it? Why don't I just buy the damn thing?
