Matisyahu : The Hasidic Reggae Superstar (http://www.hasidicreggae.com)

It's not a joke. It's not a parody. It's actually not bad.

"Good enough to transcend gimmick" would actually be a fair assessment. He is going to play in San Diego sometime this month, and the local radio station has been playing one of his songs (King Without a Crown) on the radio. I didn't realize that he was a hasidic jew until I went to buy the track off iTunes.

iTunes link for his album (http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewAlbum?playlistId=78878531)

Of course, in looking for interesting links, I see that the song I bought (the above "King Without a Crown") is being given away for free on Amazon.

Heard this guy on an NPR music article a few weeks back. It's pretty good as reggae goes, but he's definitely about the gimmick.
