Ok, I can only find junky modules online. Looking around, though, I stumbled across some info on the super-cool Gazetter series I loved so much as a kid.

http://www.acaeum.com/DDIndexes/Misc1.html (the GAZ* ones)

They just fascinated the heck out of me for some reason. Anyone else remember these?

Those were what, 1990s? Way past my D&D time.

I had moved on to drugs and death metal by then.

Heh. Yeah, and the coolest one, the Rise of Empires thing, came out right before AD&D 2nd edition.

When you say modules online, what do you mean? A full reprint of the modules? Or do you want to buy some, like on ebay or something? To me the best modules are still the classics, from first edition. My faves: B3, X2, G1-3, I1.

Those were all great. X2 is probably my favorite module of all time. I wish I still had it. maybe I should hit ebay!

S3: Expedition to Barrier Peaks.

A real ass-kicker of a module. Course, it had a big spaceship, blasters, and robots, but still, lots of fun. Took us forever to finish it.

"I really wish I could buy pdfs of 'em."

There are certain IRC chatrooms and a Usenet newsgroup where you can download those PDFs for free, but I found myself feeling even more a loser than usual when I realized I was spending my Saturday night waiting for my turn to download a fuckin' D&D module.

Just hit ebay or www.abebooks.com, and get the real thing...

Heh.

Wizards has some free PDFs of various modules available on their site. They've gotten fairly generous with the old AD&D stuff now that 3E is out.

Ugh, I can't stand S3. It was incredibly hard, but also just too strange for me. The space ship thing...it felt like that commercial in the 80s where the chocolate gets in the guys peanut butter. Except the result wasn't very tasty ;).

You must not be a big Wizardry or Ultima II fan either...

Or Ultima 1 (where there was actually a space combat component, heh), or the ending of most of the Might and Magic games.

I also didn't like S3 for that reason, and the mixture of science and swords/sorcery made Wizardry and the M&M games less interesting as well.

Well we were big on Star Frontiers and Top Secret, and AD&D was mostly a fun trivial afterthought inbetween SF or TS adventures (or Gamma World), so as you can imagine it was a lot more fun when you mixed in spells, swords, and blasters.
