New monster screenshots may not bode well for the game:

Does anybody know what's the name of the tribal smurfs in the trailer?

Clowns are scary...

None of them seem to be in dark sewers with lava pools yet.

No spiders, for one thing. Other than that, "frantic action feeling", tons of enemies, wide open spaces, lots of color and light. No crates or switches, if possible.

Clowns are bright.

Call me crazy, but I'd rather judge the game based on things like gameplay and emotional response than the presence of a spider.

The first one was pretty damned novel in how balls-to-the-wall frantic and mindless it was (and I mean that in a good way.) I have no reason to assume the developers won't push things even further this time around...

The Tron arcade game had spiders, and it ROCKED.

This review (http://www.oldmanmurray.com/longreviews/66.html) suggested that spiders, clowns, and "edgy" versions thereof, as well as "edgy" versions of conventional enemies (like the fellow with the sawblade hands) are a bad thing.

How can you not like an undead demon ninja with sawblades for hands. The only thing that could improve his image is a parrot, an eyepatch and possibly a pair of cowboy boots

So that's what OMM was.

Before your time, I know.
Maybe you'll put the pieces together and figure out who the Chet that posts here is.

I already knew chet was "chet of OMM fame." I just didn't know what OMM was.

It was in that thread where people were upset because Brad used "chet of Valve."

Some recent magazine (Computer Games?) had Erik Wolpaw interviewing Roman Ribaric. Pretty funny interview :-)

Erik: So Doom 3. What happened there?
Roman: Honestly, I don't know. It was too dark to see what was going on.

Erik didn't ask about crates or spiders, but he did ask about sewers, and apparently there is some kind of sewer level :-D
