Since we're in the middle of the BF2-dominated games forum month here at QT3, I figure it's time for a poll.

Damn! I am torn between SHIT! BONERZ! and Shaman!

Decisions, decisions.

SLOW! SLOW! Slow it!

...

I chose Support, mostly because it seems to be the only kit that gets me any kills.. And the first one I actually 'levelled' up on.. Of course, having all the ammo you could ever want is a bonus.

And then I realized I accidently chose assault, when I meant support. Feh.

I switch back and forth between medic and support, but spend faar more time in medic, according to my stats.

Support is awesome for the urban maps, though.

Okay, so someone who's going to choose Assault has to choose Support to fix WinterRose's mis-vote.

I picked support, too. I like the heavy guns and it's relatively easy to get team points by keeping an eye out for folks with depleted ammo. However, I don't think limited ammo is a problem for many classes, with the exception of AT dudes (who are better off using a tank or mounted TOW anyway) and Spec Ops who are blowing enemy facilities.

As for me, whenever I hear the ammo loading sound effect of some nearby support guy, I'm like, 'Oh, yeah, whatever dude. I'm going to be dead before I run out of ammo, but, you know, thanks, that's nice of you and all.' Besides, I know he's just doing it for the team points.

You know when you're revived you don't get more ammo? So imagine you're revived maybe ten times and then you'll start having ammo problems. It helps to be in a squad too ;).

I've run out of ammo PLENTY of times. Mostly because..

1> I'm a bad shot.
2> When I panic, I start filling the air with lead.
3> I shoot at just about anything that moves and has a red name. Potshots or carefully aimed.

Generally, I usually tend to run out of my ammo by the time I die, and it can really suck being revived only one clip left. As support, that gun has some nice range on it. Prone just on a hill and start filling the skies with lead. You'll definately be thanking being able to reload even that big gun.

SpecOps. The easy targeting of the default weapon helps offset my terrible aiming ability. Mostly, I enjoy being able to run away fast and far, and blowing stuff up.

Antitank. Pongos rule.

The AT's main weapon has very little ammo. Like the MEC has only 2 clips of ammo. That, and those rockets go up fast when there's a lot of vehicles hanging around, and they're also pretty effective veruses infantry.

The Assault's grenade launcher also dries up pretty quickly, especially when defending a flag in an infantry heavy map (like the first MEC flag in Karkand)

But, besides that, Support is more of a movable Grenade Production Factory (tm). It's fun tossing dozens of nades over into enemy positions from behind a building.

Medic. If only because I take lots of uncalculated risks and I like being able to heal myself. Also, the shock paddles are cool.

I did manage to kill a guy with them once.

Spec ops- I can live through fire fights, sorta snipe, set traps, blow up arty and stuff and take out tanks.
Best all around class.
If I'm in a front line squad I usually take AT or Assault depending on the terrain.

SpecOps like Solomon. I fear no infantry because my gun is super accurate and I fear no vehicle because C4 is fun and versatile.
I can also run quickly away from things that I do fear...

SpecOps.

Also, one nice thing about the Battlefield series is that the sniperfag syndrome is minimal.

Medic. You're decent in a firefight at medium to long range, you can heal yourself back up, and it's a rush to try and revive guys under fire.

Medic here, too. Since I'm not a killing mo-chine like some, at least being a medic lets me be of some use.

It's all about Engineer. I get kills o plenty from mines, and the shotty rules in close quarter combat. Plus that nifty repair ability...

So do I, I get tons of kills from mines. Too bad they're all on my team.

People on pubs still, STILL haven't learned to not run over their own mines, despite a red skull and crossbones over it visible 30m away and a big red honkin' warning icon to the right. Of course, then, they punish you...

So I changed to medic, for reasons stated above.

I like the lack of throw your hands in the air screaming at the monitor "WHAAAAT!?" sniper kills. But it seems that snipers just.. Well.. They suck (For lack of a better word). They don't do much at all. I'm of the school that if you practice alot and learn to snipe well, it should be quite effective. But in BF2, doesn't seem to matter either way.

Maybe as a added thing to snipers they should get the ability to view enemy health at a certain distance, through their scopes. At least you can do the sniper thing and pling the low health guys.

I have had fun on larger maps hiding around the rear of enemy bases with the sniper kit, calling out vehicles, then moving in to capture the flag when know one is around. I like snipers because they are very hard to use, although i'm getting pretty fond of their rifle now - shooting a prone enemy facing you seems to always result in a 1-shot kill headshot.

However the best class default class overall is clearly the AT kit. Every infantry class can kill every other class, though with different degrees of dificulty. But when that Heavy Tank is plowing down the highway into your position, it's those unloved AT guys that kill it so you can go on blasting everyone with your laser sighted rifles.

Might as well give a shot out to the Assault class. I love it. It's got that extra armor which helps and I have gotten great at the grenade launcher (range? Hello!). I LOVE the sight of enemy vehicles trying to run my way. :) Sucks that I can't run for crap though.

I just unlocked the medic upgrade. That's a fun rifle to use. I played a couple games on the TG server, came in #1 on my side both times, although one time was because I was an APC whore.

The only reason not to play on the TG server is to unlock weapons. They've got 2 now, and that's a lot of fun.

Stats still get lost though. I got promoted to Lance Corporal twice, and got the Armor medal twice, and the Support medal once, which didn't register.

I've got to say. I am pretty diverse between medic/specops/support/medic/antitank. I like support best just because one time I was Chinese and there was a Black Hawk turning to open up on us. So I went prone, blasted, and killed every passenger out of the chopper. It just gives me more versatility in a pinch with exception of Armor, unless you've got an Armor hog on the other team. Guy who's awful with a tank, can't stand up against another tank, but is always in his tank going the same routes to the same spawns where he knows there are no tanks.

I vascillate between Support and AT. I will always love Support thanks to the time I climbed onto a roof on the Karkand map, found myself behind a full enemy squad, and proceeded to mow them all down before they knew what was hitting them. But AT is consistently more fun in its cat-and-mouse dynamic, the maneuvering to hit to a weak facing, and the oh-so-satisfying sound of a tank meeting its end.

So its happening to you too eh XPav?

Man, I've ranked up to PFC twice and Lance Corporal three times, and got at least one ribbon that didn't register. It just makes me sad, because I was really excited about all the stats.

Support is my favorite. I like medic too, but it irritates me that a class/kit that usually doesn't get the time of day is so popular, because it is good for point whoring rather than serving the actual role.

Glad to see sniper so low on the list.

Suppose all these things could just be a fluke, that can be chalked up to keeping good company. :-)

The game runs pretty poorly on my comp, and my mouse movement is pretty erratic, so I can't really play offensive classes. Thus, I play medic 99% of the time. I've got more revives than kills.

Part of it is that I'm horrible with the AK-101 though. I should do better now that I made LC and got my new gun.

I equalized the votes by voting Support when I actually tend towards Assault.

The grenade launcher and the near-snipe accuracy of the assault rifle is just something that feels versatile to me. On the Dam map, I actually played sniper for a while from the top of the crane, just ironsight plinking away at any hapless flag capper wannabe. Those that I couldn't reach in time, I grenaded.

The stats claim I play Medic and Spec Ops in 2nd place, in equal measures. That sounds about right if I'm playing on tactical, but on a random pub the Assault tends to work best.

MEDIC!

It just makes me feel like such a hero. Early today I saw an enemy Assault gun down two team-mates - I slammed him into a tree with my jeep, jumped out, res'd them both, ran up the hill, shot three more people and single-handedly took the flag while the two guys I saved fended off more incoming bads. The Medic's gun on single-shot mode, aimed at the head, actually wins most infantry encounters simply because no-one else seems to realise their own gun can do this too.

Also, I have started referring to my Defibrilators as The Hands Of God, because they giveth to team-mates and taketh away from unsuspecting enemy snipers behind whom I occasionally find myself. Clear!

I can totally own all of the other BF2 classes with my frost shock, and the healing and fire totems are a little added DPS/healing.

The most exciting part is when you'll get promoted to Lance Corporal again because the first time didn't stick.

I guess the exciting part for me is going to be when I get promoted to Lance Corporal at all - I thought you got an unlock for every promotion. I'm only a Private First Class. No gun for me!

City maps, medic. Though I've been having excellent results with the engineer on the real tight city maps. The shottie is just devastating point blank. Plus, no one ever seems to take responsibility for keeping the commander up and running by maintaning the Artillery/JVC/Radar.

Large open maps that encourage vehicular homicide I tend to go with the Anti-tank. Theres nothing more satisfying than directing your missle into the ass-end of a tank and getting it to blow in one shot.

Anti Tank.

The range of the rockets, the ability to steer them.

Climbing a hill and raining down tv-guided rockets across the map = heaven.

Now if it were easier to shoot down airplanes... :D

Spec Ops. The guns are nearly as good as the Assault plus you get C4 to blow up all sorts of stuff. I probably play Medic and Assault the next most. I go Anti-Tank when I have to although sometimes the C4 is better because if I get 3 charges on the tank I may die but it is going with me!
