I am doing the first lowrider mission... how do you control the hydraulics so that you are able to "dance" in the car to beat your opponent's hydraulic car?
which controls are used?
For me, it was the 4 standalone arrow keys on my keyboard.

The default keys are the numpad keys 8,4,6,2.
For me, none of the defaults worked. Nor did the arrow keys, nor the directional keys. The only way I could get past this mission was to quickly change the control scheme to joypad and use the analog stick on my Logitech Dual Action. :x Same problem with the other "DDR-style" mission at the beach dance party.
GTA:SA doesn't like my keyboard.

That's the mission, where I plugged in my gamepad for the first time since I got it.
Stupid GTA:SA controls.

my keyboard is a Dell XPS2 laptop....
there is a NUM LOCK key .. but there is no obvious number pad.... the NUM LOCK key must active other keys into a number pad... but it isn't obvious which ones it converts it to....
and I don't want to read the instructions!

You'll need to reconfigure the keys. That's why I had difficulty with this mission, I would press Num lock and try to do it but San Andreas wouldn't pick it up. I have an Alienware Area-51 m.
DrDel: No, you have to hit the blue FN button AND the NumLock key. That will turn the keypad on.
That depends on how you have your BIOS settings, but this is often a requirement on Dell laptops.

Weird, I usually just press the Num Lock key for everything else.
