Ok, that really bothers me. Is it crappy reporting, or was there really no evidence that her cash was drug money?
I would be PISSED
Unrelated but amusing:
stupid smugglers hide heroin inside cocaine bricks

Was she wearing the bra that had the cash in it? Just wondering.
Oh, and she should reconsider her plastic surgery because of this professional opinion.
Valdez said a male Drug Enforcement Administration agent told her she had a nice body and didn't need surgery
Hope she kicked him after he said that. And ate his brains.

Actually it seems clear they were doing this since they have to pay the smugglers less for moving cocaine than heroin.

Topical:
Rather than being compelled to testify against her 70-year-old boyfriend (Byron Stamate) for cultivating the medicinal cannabis she depended upon to help control her crippling back pain, Shirley Dorsey committed suicide. She saw it as the only way to prevent the forfeiture of their home and property. Despite her suicide, Stamate was sentenced to 9 months prison, and his home, cottage, and $177,000 life savings were seized.

That's the stupidest reason to commit suicide ever. She could of just not said anything.
There are better stories about victims of the drug war here...

Pretty much. The fourth amendment has been eviscerated, much like the fifth and tenth. You now get cases like "The United States vs 240,000 dollars" found in the van. Because assets don't need lawyers, they get screwed. It's fucking ridiculous. If a cop decides that a dog is alerting him, he can search you free from penalty. Byebye 4th amendment. Your rights just got hijacked by a dog. Allegedly.
I'm just glad I'm white. I had a black friend of mine helping me clean out my car, and the SPD comes down and accuses us of illegal dumping. This leads to ID checks and winds up with the black dude being arrested. Make enough laws and anyone is a target, depending on the whims of the people involved.
