Why do people do this? I know it's sort of like mumbling under your breath But it's kind of annoying and hard to read and in the end it doesn't really add very much or really accomplish anything but cause eyestrain for people and who the hell wants to have to copy text to a text editor to read it?

Just press the quote button and you'll see the text in proper size,

Ok, but it is still annoying. I highlighted and got to read it as well, but I still don't like it. I think people who use it (even to make a point, Mike!) should be gently touched!

I like to use it on occasion, for humorous effect, when nobody's expecting it.
It's kind of like showing your dick to nuns!

I think I see your point. I hate that I had to make an effort to read that line. Well, I won't do it again, at least.

Any difference in tone detectable there? It's a means to soften the blow in making obtuse and/or vulgar statements. And you gotta go with a size smaller than the Edit font size.
Don't take away all my toys, man!
Looking for a way to increase your font size, Mike?

The admins are perfectly capable of screwing around with the innards of PhPBB to make this behavior impossible. Obviously they don't consider it a problem.
I usually make text smaller so that I can footnote things.*
*Such as this little example note!

Changing the text size doesn't work at all with NetCaptor. This forum is the #1 reason why I have to keep the "ignore font sizes" option enabled. How about letting users set the standard text size in their profile?

The size Peter and silver used is fine. You can still make the tone point without making it illegible.
