I notice that my gogamer mailer shows Destroy All Humans as a new release. I guess that means it's out. So has anyone tried it? I though it looked intriguing, but I don't want to get it without hearing from someone else first.

dunno how the final retail is, but I'd have paid $50 for the build at e3 last year, seemed super polished and cool/fun just from watching the demo run.

EBGames.com still shows a 6/21 ship date.

So "Destroy All Humans" is just a videogame? That's sad. I just clicked this thread in order to read about you raving with foaming mouth about killing us all.
Come on, you DO have a plan to annihilite humanity, do you?

A demo for it is on the Xbox Magazine disk I got in the mail today. I'll see if I can find some time today to both play it and provide some quick impressions. I too am pretty excited about this one.

I do have a plan, and you play an integral part in it (on the killing side, not the dying...at least not right away), but apparently I can't give details until June 21st.

Ok, so I've played the demo. Here are my quick comments:
Any demo that begins by tossing cows automatically gets an A+ from me. I intend to keep this rule in place for the foreseeable future.
The demo is rather short. It comes in at about 10 minutes. While you get to do some rather fun stuff (did I mention cows?), the demo doesn't give you enough time to draw too many conclusions.
The destructible buildings remind me of Mercenaries. This is a good thing. This is also unsurprising (http://www.pandemicstudios.com/).
The ability to throw farm equipment around, like the random truck or tractor, reminds me of my childhood.
"And I'm not green!"
What I saw looks good. I want to see more.

Just to clarify, though, the team that's doing Destroy All Humans is completely separate from the team that did Mercenaries. Based on what I've seen, don't assume too many similarities.

I'll believe you that is so. However, the way buildings explode -- they fall into the ground and leave behind a shell of its former self -- is very similar to what I've seen in Mercenaries. I'd be amazed if Destroy All Humans didn't share at least a library or two with its mercenary buddy, if not the entire game engine.

Destroy All Humans uses its own engine. It's from Pandemic's Brisbane studio, while Mercenaries is from their Los Angeles studio. I don't know if there's any tech cross-over, so you could be right.
BTW, both games do have a certain amount of free-spirited destruciton, but Destroy All Humans has a much more constrained and scripted mission-based structure. This lets it do certain things that Mercenaries couldn't do, but it's not a wide-open free-roaming GTA style game like Mercenaries.

Damn that's disappointing... I wanted to go on a cow mutilation and farmer girl abduction rampage...

Oh, you can certainly do that. You just can't go, for instance, from one city to another without seeing a loading screen or touring the US in your saucer. The game does seem to encourage that type of gameplay by rewarding you for collecting DNA (i.e. wantonly killing people) and leaving areas open for repeated visits.

That's potentially a shame. My hazy recollection of the magazine previews for this game late last year is that they explicitly said that there would be free-roaming GTA gameplay.

Is killing people the only way to collect DNA? Can I abduct women and give them alien hybrid babies?
