I'm just finding out that this is a good game. I love the strategy aspects of the game, and the on the fireld fighting is incredible. I'm a huge AOE fan, but this game is right up their with that game.

So... What do you guys think about this game.

And did anyone get to play the Medievil:Total War demo yet? How is it? It looks very good.

I own Total War including the Warlord expansion piece, but haven't had time to boot it up and play it. On my To Do list.

That freaking demo is >250 MB. That is very large for a demo don't you think.

Yeah, Shogun was a *great* game and the Warlord edition added some nice stuff. I'm really looking forward to Medieval (however you spell that word), partly because European history is more accessible to me than feudal Japanese history. I dig Kurosawa and all, but I'm looking forward to playing in my own cultural backyard.

Along with Pax Romana and Republic, TW: Medieval is high on my strategy list too. All these games, along with my old favorites King of Dragon Pass and Romance of The Three Kingdoms series, stress the importance of characters in history (real or fictional).

This is totally new for the Total War franchise but the strategic game seems to be borrowing from the better parts of RoTK and EU to create more variables in followers and the strategic flow which is really important when you're trying to recreate a European feudal environment. Frankly, it's really important when trying to recreate the passions and majesty of Japanese feudalism as well which is why I got very bored of Shogun (despite the great tactical engine) rather quickly.

They pull this one off, and if NPCs are as unpredictable and treacherous as they should be, then this game of dynasty with Hollywood production values and massive, realistic, battles will be an all time great for me.
