View Full Version : Games like Freedom Fighters for the Xbox?

I just finished Freedom Fighters for the Xbox. I'm normally not that much into shooters, but this had a sort of "tactical" feel to it. I really liked to have a few other guys to order around, made me fell like a true squad leader. I spent most of my time sniping enemies and telling others where to go. And from time to time I was the medic, just running around patching guys up.
Are there any other games like this? I was thinking about Full Spectrum Warrior. Is that what I want?

Yeah, concur with Republic Commando. The interface for your squad members is very similar to FFs.

Full Spectrum Warrior.
Forget you guys, I loved that game.

Glad to see some all-too-rare love for that "other" Freedom- game. Freedom Fighters 2 is coming out later on this year; can't wait.
Edit: also, it doesn't give you a squad, but for some reason I found Mercenaries oddly remeniscient of Freedom Fighters.
Brothers in Arms is what you want. The consensus (http://www.gametab.com/xbox/brothers.in.arms.road.to.hill.30/2717/) is pretty oustanding. I've only got a few hours into it, but am realling digging it. The control is so well done, it's very easy to command your squad and participate in the action all at the same time.
But if you're on a budget, you could snap up Full Spectrum Warrior for $17 (http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/product/236812.asp). Can't go too wrong there.

Cool, hadn't heard that. Always love Io's production values, even if the gameplay isn't always outstanding.

Thanks everyone!
Brothers in Arms now tops my wanted-list.
Full Spectrum Warrior and Star Wars Republic Commando shares second place.
Rainbow Six 3 is on the maybe-list.
I'm off to the game store.

Brother in Arms is going to be wicked awesome. Its out now, I think. Boy, I'm behind the times.
Mercenaries also reminded me a lot of the game - more in atmosphere than in gameplay. But its definately worth a look.
Full Spectrum Warrior... loved this game. I wouldn't call it a shooter, even, but I had a lot of fun with it.
Havne't played Republic Commando, yet, but the gameplay footage I've seen looks very interesting.
Rainbow Six is okay, and you can pick it up really cheap now as well. Some good online play, too, if you get the hang of the game.

I just finished Brothers in Arms on the Xbox, and I have to say it's one of the greatest shooters ever created. And I've played them all.
It is VERY much like Freedom Fighters, but with the tactical squad control perfected.
It is one of the only games I've ever played where, after winning, immediately started again and am halfway through it for the second time.
It's also the ONLY game I've played on a console where I'll be buying the PC version and playing through it... my third time through it. The addition of higher-res textures and WASD mouse will make it more than worth the third time through.
It's just that good.

Brothers In Arms (as everyone else has said, awesome!)
Republic Commando
Ghost Recon (very cheap now)
Rainbow Six (very cheap now)
In a few weeks, look for Close Combat: First To Fight (which was developed for U.S. Marines Training).
I wouldn't recommend Full Spectrum Warrior because you can't actually fire a weapon in that game. In fact, you don't even control a guy, you just move the squads around and it got pretty boring for me. The tutorial wore me out.
