View Full Version : WOW - Who's on What Server? Market Collusion time!

I know there was an earlier thread on servers, but I'm too lazy to go find it, I don't think it had the information I'm actually looking for, and besides I wanted to contribute to the community by starting my VERY OWN World of Warcraft thread.
So, especially, who's on Earthen Ring? I've seen a few references here and there. Any other Earthen Ring Horde players?
If so we should, um, get together on commodity prices. :-) Wouldn't want to be undercutting a fellow QT3'er, after all.
I am: Poocher, L30 Undead Priest, renowned dealer of stone, herbs, and cloth!

Harvest, level 42 Warrior on Kilrogg. I'm at 220 Smithing and 250 Mining. I think I'm the only Q23er there.
Doomhammer, L55, maxxed mining and smithing. I rule the commodities market with an iron fist.
I'm pretty much the only person from qt3 who plays there regularly, so it's a tiny fist. But, still! Iron fist!

If we want to start something, I wouldn't mind creating a char there and building up.

Uther, L42 Warrior. I haven't been trying to own any markets, but once you know the general prices people are willing to pay, it's easy to crank out 5-10 gold per day with a little mining while doing quests. I've done so well with raw mining materials that we named my horse Copperstone. :)
I love the Auction House. For most of my time in WoW, I never bought anything there -- it was a second profession, a way to make $$ for my mount. But now that I'm climbing into the upper levels, I find myself more willing to pay for armor or other materials that I need, because $ is easier to come by. The system could be optimized in several ways, to be sure, but I've found it an extremely useful (and for the most part) fair trading mechanism. It's added a lot to my enjoyment of WoW.

F13 (http://www.f13.net/) is there.
I'm still glad to be on Mannoroth, alliance side.

I have some lower-level characters on Earthen Ring (edit: both sides) but am primarily playing on Bleeding Hollow.

Most of my characters are on Earthen Ring. My main is a Night Elf warrior, 34. I've got a level 10 Tauren Shaman though and that's a lot of fun. He'll probably get a lot of attention once my main gets her mount. The NE does skinning and mining and the Tauren is all about some herbalism and alchemy.
By the way, alchemy rules. I wish my warrior could make this stuff. Even at level ten I can make a few cool things.

Rhuin's my primary, and a good number of other Qt3 folks play there, as most people are no doubt aware.

My main is on Malygos where I have the following:
Tito: lvl 37 Dwarf priest with 190 mining, 225 Goblin engineering
(Monopolizing the coarse stone and fused wiring markets, McCulloghian economics worked for me!)
Webster: lvl 10 gnome rogue with 120 tailoring, 90 enchanting
Ceciliantas: lvl 2 NE druid (really just around to generate laughs)
I also have a few alts spattered throughout the servers, including Doomhammer, Garona, and Shattered Hand.

On Eonar:
Collector Lvl 17 Hunter, Skinning, Leather
Principal Lvl 10 Warrior, Mining, Blacksmithing
Quickafix Lvl 10 Druid, Tailoring, Alchemy
Inspite Lvl 7 Warlock undecided (in spite of himself)
Plus a few lower level chars created specifically for play with particular people.
Focus might appear to be lacking, but I like to play the different types, and I love having one character make stuff that another can use. Everybody mails Linen to my Druid, and he sends back bags, and so on. I know it would be better, from a strictly fiscal viewpoint, to just buy the stuff, but I get a real kick out of doing it this way. One of the many small but brilliant design decisions in this game was the one to devote precious space to the name of an item's creator. A lot of people won't care about an item's provenance, but I love seeing my character's name there.
Also on Eonar, the rest of SSG. If no SSG games are published for the rest of the year, you know why.

This is hilarious. Active Qt3 market collusion in WoW.
I can only presume that Blizzard will soon make an NPC named Ted Begoniabelt, who will enact some variant of the Sherman Act.

Since Blizzard chose the evolutionary-not-revolutionary scheme of refining previous MMO models instead of figuring out a good way to make a functioning economy, they don't really care how screwed up the Auction House is.
Actually, since the AH takes a percentage of all auctions, Blizzard is probably happy with high prices, since it makes the AH even more of a money sink than it would be anyway.
Huh? I don't get it. How is the AH "screwed up?" I am making money hand over fist. Sounds like it's working as intended to me!

Well actually we haven't colluded anything yet. As far as I know. Hey you bastards better not be holding out on me.
Just realized I forgot to give actual characer names. On Earthen Ring:
Lyn: NE Warrior, 34. Her turn-ons include skinning and mining and her turn-offs are mages who keep sheeping the main target and murlocs.
Aadja: Tauren Shaman, 10. Big guy, three beards, likes to smash things with a hammer. Looks like a cow. In his spare time he picks flowers and mixes them in pretty bottles.

Yeah, I made 77g last night through the AH. And who says crafting doesn't pay?

77g's in straight profit from crafted items?
