I'm looking to get something where I can just blow shit up. Little strategy, no stealth. Any recommendations?

Sounds like you want a first person shooter of some kind but frankly, if you want to blow shit up, get Gradius V. Then try to finish it on one credit. Don't use the continue crutch to get to the end.

I haven't played it, but based on what you are saying, I think this is the game for you:

Or Ratchet & Clank 3, one of the best blow stuff up games.

Mercenaries would be my pick. Alternately: Alien Hominid.

I'll second that Ratchet and Clank recomendation, and throw in a "get one of the first 2 used, cheap."

Gradius V man. Go old school.

Heck, get them new, for $20 a shot.

If you just want to blow things up, though, go with Mercenaries. It's the game that just keeps exploding.

Gradius V man. Go old school.

But Gradius V doesn't let you bite anybody's head off. If he's going to go old school, he should go Alien Hominid.

If you want to blow stuff up Mercenaries is the ultimate option.

Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando

You will enjoy the blitz gun, I think.

I heartily second this suggestion.

And give R-Type:Final some consideration as well.

Currently playing: Rachet and Clank 1 - great game. Highly recommended. I also have 2 and 3, but want to finish 1 first.

others that may be of interest:

Alien Hominid, Viewtiful Joe 1 and 2, Gradius V, R-Type final (not as good as Gradius V though)
