Did anyone else see the ad for the new Sid Meier's Civilization Boardgame in the latest CGW? (The NWN cover).

I have to admit that it looks really cool. The 3D playing pieces should be painted (or colored, at least... that "beige-ish" color they have is really bland), but apart from that, I really want to pick it up in September.

Remember too many all-nighters in college playing Avalon Hill's classic Civ boardgame, but this Civ boardgame looks to be just what its name implies: a boardgame version of the computer game. Didn't think it could be done, but impressive.

Once I buy it, then I'll just have to find some people to play against, else it's just going to be a nice addition to my bookshelf.

Thanks for the link. Not much info at the site, but hopefully the closer they get to the August release date we can find out more. I agree, surely they are going to paint those.

Looks interesting.

Yeah, but how long does it take to play a game? SMC and its variants take a LONG time to play, and that's with a computer players taking pretty quick turns.

That really is an ugly map.

I wonder if it will have those nice Sid touches, like have you edit a text file every time you want to change the dice you are throwing?

AoM (http://www.eaglegames.net/news/pr_12.html) is getting some of that huge gameboard port market, too.

As long as it doesn't include any "brilliant features" like strategic resources (come on, admit it, the horse was your favorite!), I just might pick it up.
