O.K. I give up, I need help with recovering files from a hard disk.
I had a bad sector on my MBR, and lost my entire HD. I already got the new HD running but I need to recover some files from the old drive. The files are probably there, but until now I couldn't find any recovering program that could actually extract the data. I went through a bunch already. So if anyone could recommend any program to do this job... I would really appriciate.
Any other suggestions on how to pull out files from a bad partitioned space would also suffice.

What O/S was the old hard drive partitioned under? Do you know exactly how the old drive used to partitioned?

It was a FAT32 on XP, anyway I finally got a program that can handle it. (8th one?) I had programs finding files and then not recovering them, program not working. Requiring $99.99 before I can even know if they work and in even one program which was able to recover only jpgs (????).
I'm sure there's a lesson here on backing up, the sad thing is that most people I know wouldn't do such a thing after a HD crash and give up, especially since I found all the "experts" in computer stores around thought it couldn't be done and that the HD needs to be send to an expensive recovry program.
Thanks anyway, if you wouldn't reply I'd probably delete the thread.

What program did you find that ended up working?

This just cracks me up. Possible tag line for this application: When you absolutely have to have your porn collection up and running the next business day.

I had 9000 jpgs, most of them cache files from browsers...
I swear I have no idea how some porn got there... The program also undeletes things removed from recycle bin, so it's quite hilarious what it find.

Restorer 2000...
Though not free... but I could restore some files on the shareware.
Only problem is that it restores all deleted files as well for each folder, but with that I can live.
