Since so many of you are going to be picking up the game tonight or tomorrow and getting in on some Live action, here are a few useful links:

Qt3 clan stats main page:
http://www.bungie.net/Stats/ClanStats.aspx?clan=Qt3

Main Leaderboard page:
http://www.bungie.net/Stats/Leaderboards.aspx

A list of the different maps/gametypes/rules for each "Playlist" on Live (super handy!):
http://bungie.net/Stats/page.aspx?section=FAQInfo&subsection=playlists&page=1

Page explaining the ranking system for Live and how it works:
http://www.bungie.net/Stats/page.aspx?section=FAQInfo&subsection=stats&page=statoverview

In the awesome post-game stats they have a page of medals you've earned. Most of them are explained here:
http://www.bungie.net/Stats/page.aspx?section=FAQInfo&subsection=medals&page=medals

I think there's more functionality coming to bungie.net in the coming few days, so as I find really useful info I'll update this post. Feel free to post your own useful Halo 2 linkage here.

But please, PLEASE, keep this thread to just useful Halo 2 info links. Not links to reviews, not "thank you" or "I need a clan invite" messages, not a discussion of the game's upsides and downsides. There are other threads for that. If you need a clan invite, send me a PM.

Someone in the GWJ forum mentioned that they put the manual online. In case you don't have your hands on the game yet...

Not really a link, but definitely a useful tip for playing on Live, since most people don't seem to have read the manual or figured this out yet:

When you talk into your headset, it broadcasts your voice to everyone near you, friend or foe - the volume and direction is determined by your proximity. By default, this sound comes out of your speakers rather than your headset (though you can change that option). It's "proximity chat" and useful for smack-talking, but not for team communication.

To talk only to your team, and have it come through their headsets rather than their speakers, press the white button or up on the D-pad. You don't need to hold it: just press it once and talk, it will cut off automatically (you'll hear a little "ssrrcch" radio static sound). Nice feature, that.

Review Listings (http://www.halo2sector.net/index.php?subaction=showfull&id=1099845352&archive=&start_from=&ucat=1&)

Its my own site, but it has a ton of links to reviews around the net as well as a bit of commentary on each review. This isn't some ill-convieced way to gain a bit of traffic, but if you want me to take down the link just tell me. I wrote the article up pretty quickly, and my brain was fried after reading all those reviews, so excuse the sloppiness of it.

Also, a direct link to GameRanking's Halo 2 Page:

Mattc0m - could you move your post to the regular Halo 2 thread and nuke it from this one? I'm trying to keep this for links to hints/tips/data for the Qt3 clan (and general helpful multiplayer hints). :)

A tip for clan members - after getting your feet wet in a couple online games, go offline and set up a LAN match on your own Xbox. Not to play with anyone...just read all the game descriptions and various options you can choose. That way you understand the goal of Oddball, what settings like "indicator when dropped" and stuff mean, and so on.

Start up LAN or split-screen games by yourself on most of the common maps (see the Playlists link above) and run around them, looking in the corners and out of the way places. Find the energy swords, sniper rifles, rocket launchers, overshields, etc.

It seems like the main thing most of us need to do, after playing online with some qt3ers, is learn the game better. Myself included! Sometimes we have some serious strategy failings, and sometimes a really skilled player schools us, but most of the time we lose just because the other team knows where the good stuff is, or the good hiding/sniping places are.

Is there a link / post to what I need to do to join the clan? I grabbed my copy at lunch today and looking forward to getting some MP action on tonight...

You just need to post your gamertag so one of us can send the invite.

This would be so much more useful as a sticky post.

1. I can't make it sticky. Tom?

2. Could everyone (including me) delete all your non-info and conversational posts from this thread? Including requests to join the clan?

I'll nuke this post after people have a chance to see it and nuke the others.

Or better yet - Tom, can you make this thread sticky, closed, and nuke all the posts after the first three? Then if something needs to be added someone can PM it to ya? That might work better than trying to play forum cop on off-topic posts, which nobody wants to do. :)

I am surprised no one has mentioned the incredible "Game Viewer" option on Bungie net. It lets you see a recap of every kill made by every player with which weapon, as well as the flag and skull paths for CTF and ball games. Just click on the name of a game, to go to the GameStats page. Then click on the "Game Viewer" tab that's to the right of the level image.

You can then click on the map to do a sort of software "zoom in" on any particular image. You can click on a one player to get his history and click on "prev" and "next" under objective route to see how the flag was returned or stolen. I think this would be a vital tool for clans to see how their defenses were penetrated or what is the fastest route in and out of the base.

Try it with your own QT3 1 flag CTF match here:

this thing is cool. Here's my best so far. Not killtastic, but not terribly bad either:

I'd be happy to delete if I could figure out how... :(

I'll delete this one too if I figure it out. :)

Posts can't be deleted unless they're the last one in the thread. There's some useful clan info for ya. :)
