The number of U.S. citizens visiting Canada's main immigration Web site has shot up six-fold as Americans flirt with the idea of abandoning their homeland after President Bush (news - web sites)'s election win this week.

"When we looked at the first day after the election, Nov. 3, our Web site hit a new high, almost double the previous record high," immigration ministry spokeswoman Maria Iadinardi said on Friday.

On an average day some 20,000 people in the United States log onto the Web site, www.cic.gc.ca -- a figure which rocketed to 115,016 on Wednesday. The number of U.S. visits settled down to 65,803 on Thursday, still well above the norm.

Bush's victory sparked speculation that disconsolate Democrats and others might decide to start a new life in Canada, a land that tilts more to the left than the United States.

Hey, I was just kidding!

If this translation (http://www.zachtei.nl/2004/11/04/000408.html#reacties) is right, in the wake of the Van Gogh murder, 28% of Dutch people would leave the country if they could. Maybe they can pack up their weed and pointy hats, move here, and take the place of all the new Canadians.

Well, I guess its true that Liberals are pussies.

Soldiers are being sent off to fight and die for a misguided cause and you guys are talking about running away? Deserting and you're not even in the line of fire!

The United States is not going to become a better place if the liberals leave.

This is YOUR country too... or so you claim when many of you have said that you "love America just as much as they do".

Show America you love it... FIGHT for it.

I went to that Canada page just to see what I scored in the "rating" tool they have to see how desirable an immigrant I would be. There's many places I'd rather move besides Canada IF the goal was to "get away" from the US.

I would love it if a bunch of democrats left for Canada. What can I do to help?

Brian, if I kick your ass, does that count as loving my country? Because if it does, I AM MR LOVE MY COUNTRY.

Hmm, when they start marching in the streets and lynching atheists, would that be a good time to leave?

Brian, if I kick your ass, does that count as loving my country? Because if it does, I AM MR LOVE MY COUNTRY.

If you can get off your fat ass long enough to waddle after me, I'll have plenty of time to borrow one of the guns in John Reynolds's arsenal. You might counter by squeezing Dr. Crypt until a high-pressure stream of acid is fired at me, but I'll merely raise a copy of Lolita which serves as an impenetrable shield.

Your aggression is misplaced anyway, according to Silverlight. Since Ohio was pivotal in electing Bush, Silverlight says you must "come down hard" on your fellow Ohioans. Sitting on them might work.

Note: Chet may or may not be fat, me calling him fat is an extension of our banter and has a history.
