The RNC will get you. (http://blog.rockthevote.com/multimedia/RNC%20attacks%20RTV.pdf)

Its interesting that Rangle, a far left democrat, is the one that sponsored a bill to reintroduce a draft in an effort to bring the subject up in the media. Then the democrats trun around and try to use it to scare people away from Bush. Absolutely brilliant. Needless to say, Rangle voted against his own fucking bill.

Um, he was doing that to make a point, not to actually get the draft reinstated.

I like the response. (http://blog.rockthevote.com/multimedia/RTV%20responds%20to%20RNC.pdf)
Note how Jon Stewart, David Letterman, Conan O'Brien and Jay Leno were among the copied.

I wish people would start talking about the possibity of a "civilian draft" instead of a "draft", because there already is involuntary military service going on within the military right now, but because callbacks and stop-loss only happen to non-civilians, no one cares.

If you agree to serve in the military in ANY capacity then you simply have to be prepared to be compelled to serve until you are discharged.

Do I have compassion for somebody that get's called up when they are a reservist and they really don't want to go? Yes.

Do I think they should get out of the obligation? No.

Gillespie is so slimey.

The first few times I looked at that, I thought it said "smiley."

Geez, that letter from the RNC is unreal. Does anyone know if the number of people signing up for the armed forces, including as reservists, is dropping, staying the same, or growing? I can only imagine that the people who are signing up now are among those who want to go to Iraq or someplace like it.

NPR reported today that the regular Armed Forces met their recruitment goals; however, the National Guard did not. I'll try to look up a link.

It doesn't surprise me that the National Guard and Army Reserves wouldn't be able to make their minimum numbers.

A significant number of full-time Army soldiers join because they really have few other job options, and in a weak economy, you're always going to be able to find a certain number of feet to fill boots with.

Whether or not you're getting quality people to fill those slots thanks to current events, however, is another story.

they loosened the requirements by a few percentage points. not much, 1 or 3%, something like that.
