Okay, I recognize that I might get nothing but the chirping of crickets from this thread, but in case there's anyone out there who has even a modicum of interest in either the Flaming Lips or Beck, I would be remiss in not telling you to get your tickets as soon as possible. This show was fantastic (here in Denver) and about as much fun as you'll ever have at a live show. Needless to say, perhaps, the Lips take the silliness over the top with a horde of animal-suited people shining flashlights and hugging strangers, gigantic mirror balls, and singing nun puppets. I couldn't stop giggling through their whole set.

The whole concept of the tour is that the Lips are Beck's back-up band, so they pretty much play the whole night. Beck's set is mostly folksy and somber -- in line with his new album -- but still some really incredible songs. I was there to see the Lips, but came out very impressed with Mr. Beck.

Anyone else out there catch this tour or see any other fantastic shows this season? I admit, I thought no price could keep me from finally seeing Peter Gabriel. But I was wrong. $90 for the shitty seats was just absurd.

I would have gone, but they weren't in Philly and I think the New York show was on a Thursday or something. The Lips are playing the Metro in Chicago for New Year's Eve, I bet that would be cool.

Is ther a URL I can see show times for the tour? Or, alternatively, does anyone know a date/location for the tour in or around Sacramento?

Next Tuesday at the Paramount in Oakland! OldManJeffGreen told me about how Beck's mailing list had a "secret presale" last month, and we both landed some pretty good seats.

Go to the "Live" Tab.

The Beck site's presale worked out well for me, too. Hope you guys enjoy the show!

Yeah, but good luck getting tix NOW. These shows sold out immediately way back during the presale!

Oh, and the word is that The Lips are coming back for a "real" headlining tour in 2003. But this show should be amazing---thanks for the early review Chris!

They were in town a couple months ago with the Unlimited Sunshine Tour. Cake, Flaming Lips, De La Soul, Modest Mouse, and Kinky. I was only concerned with seeing Kinky and Modest Mouse and Cake. Since i didn't feel like sitting through De la Soul and Flaming Lips for two hours I bailed. Yay, that's my story! The end.

GMicek, you should have been in Denver for the show at Red Rocks. The Lips' equipment failed repeatedly, and their set was about four songs long.
