From the ever wonderful Gizmodo (http://www.gizmodo.com/archives/nintendo-ds-probable-price-launch-date-leaked-021274.php):

Wal-Mart has a pre-order page for the Nintendo DS that lists the price as $199.82 with a promised delivery date of November 30th. With something as widely-distributed as the DS, leaks like this are usually indicative of the real deal, so assuming that there are no production or supply issues, it looks like the $200 DS is going to be in our pockets before December.

I think it's just an guesstimate. Plus it's been up for months, apparently - this isn't news.
That said, stuff like this is Nintendo's fault. The system is a couple months out from launch and there isn't even a firm price? Stupid.

If the system does end up being $200, that's way too much.

It is just a guess. EB has had the same price on their site for a few months now. EB also lists the games at $50 and I kinda doubt that will be the actual price. Until Nintendo announces it they're all just guessing.

Everyone is still guessing. Nintendo has not announced the official date and price yet, although I'm sure the major retailers know to expect it for the holidays.

I'm not sure why people think that the fact Nintendo hasn't announced it doesn't mean it's not set with retailers.

Retailers have to know the price well before release so they can figure out how many to order. You don't just say to Wal-Mart, "It'll be out at Christmas, and it'll cost a few hundred bucks."
