Well, if there's enough interest, I'd like to play a game on the Faerun map (found Here (http://www.dominions-2.org/files.htm))

It's a big, big map and being a D&D geek I would love it. I know some people are overcommitted as far as Dom2 goes, but with people being eliminated, there should be a few slots open.

Ok, there's interest.

We will be playing the "small" (322 province) map, with 12 players. Independent strength 6. No score graphs.

Backov - Arcoscephale - LAZY
Brandon Clements - Ctis - PRETENDER IN
Carnifex - Abysia - PRETENDER IN
jeffr - Pangaea - PRETENDER IN
VegasRobb - PRETENDER IN
LokeUtgaard - Caelum - PRETENDER IN
Rollory - Vanheim - PRETENDER IN
Robin - Ulm - PRETENDER IN
JM - Marignon - PRETENDER IN
Mark Weston - Mictlan - PRETENDER IN
balut - Jotunheim - PRETENDER IN
Ben - Man PRETENDER IN

Everything's ready to go, should be up tonight.

Yep, I'll play.

EDIT: Holy shit that is a big map.

I'll play, since I'm getting kicked out of games earlier and earlier these days.

I'm a newb. I just signed up for the Qt3NewbEuropa game. If it's also Ok to play in this game, I'd like to join as Pangaea.

If there are more players interested than there are spots, however, I'll give my spot in this game to another player.

My mp experience consists of two blitz type games I joined two days ago. We got to around turn 17 in both games, so I'm sort of winging it.

Well, like we say at the poker tables: "New players welcome!"

It seems as if I am getting a few (involuntary) openings in the near future. I would like to play Caelum if possible.

Yeah.

Vanheim, please.

Count me in, please. It'll be my first Dom2 multiplayer game though, so you'll all have to go easy on me.

I'd like to play Ulm, if it's not taken.

BTW. Is this game aiming for a full 17 players? On a map this big, might be a good idea. If 17, we using the Quickstart setup included with the map?

Backov

I have to explore the startup options, but I don't wanna go for 17. Maybe 10 max.

Abysia, if you please.

I'll have another bash at Marignon, as I got beat down HARD in my game pretty quickly and clearly need more experience :)

I thought about joining my first game with the QT3 crowd, but... 10 players, approx 400 provinces, so that's 40 provinces per player to manage even before anyone drops or is conquered. Isn't that just a bit, well, insane?

Having said that, I want to play Mictlan. I just think you're pretty safe letting in a few more than 10 players.

Mark

P.S. Any other game settings we should know about (indepent strength, gem frequency, etc)?

Yes, it is insane. Even with forcehost the game could last 10 years.

I'll play. I'll wait to pick a side tho.

I don't want to play the 400 province version, btw. ;>

We seem to have a decent amount of players now, let me look at this a little later when I am awake.

For those new to Dom2 Multiplayer, welcome.

Here's what you need to do:

Go into the game and design a pretender for your chosen nation. Make sure you set a password. Once that's done, go into your "newlords" directory, and email that file to me at backov a.t. spotbrokers dot com

Make sure to put Dom2 in the subject line so I can pick it out of the spam folder if you haven't mailed me before.

Just sent Pangaea's

Are we using v. 2.13 or v 2.14?

If we are using 2.14, does anyone know if it's possible to rename dom2.exe to dom2_213.exe and use that for 2.13 games?

JM

Mmm yes, might be worth holding fire on the Pretenders till we've all patched (or the replacement patch is out).

It is.

I don't think patch version has much effect on Pretender design. There were I think two new (or returned) national Pretenders that appeared in the change from 2.12 to 2.13 (Jotunheim and Abysia?), but apart from that it shouldn't matter.

There are new faerun maps with province borders and some other useful changes. They are supposed to be backward compatible with old games.

I don't know if the game owner wants to use these new maps, but I thought I'd post the info. If we did use the new maps, would everyone have to download the new files?

The province borders might be nice, although old Pangaea might not last long enough to enjoy them. I've fought off one capital attack from Ulm, but he has many more provinces than I do. Ulm crossbowmen were not kind to my Pretender early on in this game.

Here is the link from the shrapnel forum:

I just tried using the new .tga (leaving the old map file) and that seems to work well. The province borders are a huge improvement.
