This is potentially the most psyche-damaging thing I have ever seen on the web.
http://www.goldengategarrison.com/gallery/calkinswed
You can almost wrap your brain around it when it's just the Stormtroopers pissing around aiming their rifles at statues of Alice, etc. Even a couple shots of the actual service and the chick in the lieutenant outfit aren't ENTIRELY out there.
But why is everybody dressed like the cover of Sgt. Pepper and why is that chick covered with inflatable sheep and is that the pope and WHAT THE HELL WHAT THE HELL LET ME OUT OF HERE
This image says it all, really:

I think it's hilarious. I also think folks should celebrate their wedding in whatever way makes them happy. If that means dressing up in Star Wars costumes... well, is it any worse than the mind-numbingingly dull trappings of the traditional formal American wedding?

When even average people nearly bankrupt themselves paying for expensive wedding dresses and bridesmaid outfits they'll only wear once, as well as overpriced flowers, food, drink, wedding cake that won't survive the night, all for a marriage that has only a 50% chance of lasting more than a few years ... well ... the fact that these people decided to use some costumes they could at least wear to a con later and spend the rest of their wedding day taunting the normal people on amusement park rides doesn't seem so insane.
Oh, and quatoria:

Why does it do that? When I keep writing, it just wraps around. Do you have to do something special to screw it up? If so, PLEASE STOP DOING IT!!!!!!
As for the nerds, the part that confuses me is the mixture. did they sort of each pick their ideas for a perfect cosplay wedding and then just combine them? I guess that would help the ushers, who would no longer have to ask if you are with the bride or the groom. Unless, you came as the walrus or the carpenter, in which case you could look like Chewbacca or Han Solo.....

Posting images that are 1600 pixels wide (quatoria) will do that.
I deliberately attempt to avoid anything over 700 pixels wide for this very reason.
And everyone will throw Magic cards instead of rice.

Hey now -- I'm not deriding these people. I am very pro-geeky-costume. In fact, I am wearing a very silly hat RIGHT NOW. People who can get that enthusiastic about stuff* are the creamy filling in the Little Debbie Swiss Cake Roll of life.
*not including stuff like "chopping people up and putting them in the refrigerator", "having sex with capybaras", "going to Sammy Hagar concerts" etc.

I am sure everyone has had a secret wish to dress up in a stormtrooper costume at least once in their life.
Of course everyone here is way too cool to even contemplate such a thing hence this thread - the same people that obsess over console games, PC games, MMORPG's, mindless political discussions, blah blah blah ...
(and no I am not exempting myself - just pointing out the bleeding obvious)
How ironic indeed.
But it is still fun to make fun of people dressing up as stormtroopers posing next to garden gnomes ... yeah that makes a LOT of sense ... :D

Utensils are overrated. I'll also remind you that we had a "bottle of wine to guest" ratio of approximately 1:1, so chances are good that everyone would have ended up eating with their hands eventually anyway.
Personally, given the choice between wearing a silly costume and a tux, I'd rather wear a silly costume. Although I guess if you think about it, a tux really is sort of a costume, in that it's something that you'd never normally wear. But it's an ugly, uncomfortable costume (and let's not even get started with bridesmaid dresses... some of the bridesmaid dresses that I've seen make Stormtrooper outfits look sane and ordinary by comparison).

I own a formal Elizabethan doublet, but that doesn't make it any less a costume. And for me, there is little practical difference between the doublet and the tux, since I have worn each exactly once (one at my wedding, the other at my prom).

Yeah. Why the hell can't we laugh at goofy people? You know, I'm an internet nerd, but I'm an internet nerd with a large muscular dick and a big-shot career and I'm going places, dammit. So I'm gonna laugh at fruits who cavort in absurdly-authentic-looking Storm Trooper outfits and get married by Magic fucking Fairies. Sorry all, but I just don't have the chops to not bust a guffaw at that shit. We're talking Jack Tripper Three's Company spit-takes over the affair.
What's the deal-breaker here kids? What's the forcefield that shields our glass houses as we throw stones? OUR GAYNESS IS NOT POSTED IN PICTORIAL FORM ON THE INTERNET. I once leapt from my chair and danced around the room, pumping my fists in triumph when I finally killed Firkraag the red dragon in Baldur's Gate 2 (before realizing his dumb ass can be fooled by fire elementals). I was clad in old boxer shorts that ripped straight up the ass crack when I did a half-splits and shouted "KABOOM YOU BIG SILLY RED POOF!" (I paraphrase) at the climax of the impromptu dragonslaying interpretive dance. BUT NOBODY SAW IT! And since there is no damning physical evidence to prove it, beyond my half-assed anecdote, I might possibly have never done it and my opposing party is just going to have to hire guys who falsely claim they were in the room when I did it - falsely!
Anyway, the Transformer Boxbot guy is a FUCKING DORK.
