Just asking if the hosts of Dominions 2 Q23Noob2 and Q23Game1 can hold off on auto-hosting until Monday or so, because I'm in a relatively delicate position on both games and my video card just died a day or two ago.

I fully expect to have a new video card up and running in a day or two, so I'd appreciate the small courtesy. Oh, and if the hosts don't read this but other players in those games do, can you send an email out so that the hosts know?

Who are you in Q23Noob2? That may decide my support for holding up the game. :)

I emailed Jason and asked for a pause to game 1.

Abysia, currently valiantly holding off against the squishy, tentacled hordes of R'lyeh.

This is Lutes game 1? The one where I'm playing Man and Nick is playing C'tis?

And Balut is the Treaty-Breaking Backstabbing Abysian Swine between Ctis and Man. Yep.

Hold the game! For goodness sakes, hold the game until Balut is back! Please Bruce!

Gee, it sounds bad when you say it that way.

And hey, I've never broken a treaty with Man, Pangaea, or Marignon.

Abysia, now with Fewer Backstabs! :)

Of course, you've never had a treaty with me, so I'm not sure how strong a point that is in your favor. :)

Well, I finally got my PC up and running again, having purchased and installed my new Radeon 9800Pro last night. Didn't get a chance to play much of anything, but noticed that my cries went unheard in Q23Noob2 and the game was, indeed, force-hosted.

Luckily, when I looked at the turn, my Abysian capital still lives and much of my armies are still around, while the R'lyeh horde on my doorstep is noticeably absent. I'm a little curious as to what exactly happened there.

No worries, your squidgy friends are close by. Machaka tried something and it, ah, failed.

The the valiant (and dead) hordes of Machaka that advanced into Ryleh territory, besieged a castle, retreated, were cut off from behind, and massacred to the last man. They did do some damage but that last battle means basically Machaka is finished as a meaningful power in the game. Especially now with 250+ Ryleh units crawling all over the place. I hope you can hit them back now, otherwise it will be but you and Tien Chi.

This ongoing war of defense against R'lyeh makes for a good epic fantasy story. All we have to do is wait for the Hero of Light to show up and single-handedly cut a swath through the R'lyehan hordes to their capital and close the dark portal.

Well tell this Hero of Light to hurry the hell up!

Well tell this Hero of Light to hurry the hell up!

The term "Light" indicates that the hero will be of Marignon origin.

Unfortunately, the Marignon pretender is a moloch, and I think their theme is the devil-worshipping one ... Tsk, tsk, tsk. Should've stayed faithful to the Good. We can't have Heroes of Light in service to the demonic powers, now can we?

Unless this is a Black Company story. It would all make sense then.

To anyone hosting a game that I'm playing in: I'm having difficulties getting into my yahoo mail. If you could hold off on auto-hosting until my problem is resolved, I would appreciate it greatly. Thanks!

Don't sweat Game 1, that one is on hold until you play your turn. Lloyd vetoed my suggestion of forced hosting on 2 day intervals, so no deadlines to worry about.

Now, I feel bad, I thought it was just a vote. Did everyone else want to do it??

It was a vote, but since the game didn't start with deadlines I wasn't going to force them on anyone unless all players unanimously agreed to them. So when you voted "no" the voting immediately ended.

It's not a big deal, even without deadlines we've been moving at a good pace in that game. We got 2 turns in today :)
