As this HomeLAN Fed story (http://www.homelanfed.com/index.php?id=23899) points out, two new Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow multiplayer maps are now available to Xbox players via Xbox Live. Owners of the PC version, as with the original SC game, get diddly squat. Is this simply a case of MS greasing the required palms at Ubi to make the Xbox version sexier or is there some other reasoning behind it? It's not a big deal to me, but I am curious.

MS gets what MS paid for. Cest la vie.

I'd rather have a patch than a couple new maps.
Guess I'll get neither in the end. :(

It's also $5 to get the maps.
I'd rather have a patch than a couple new maps.

Oh, you're getting plenty in the end, pal, trust me.

Is the game moddable? Would PC owners get many, many maps instead?

No, not in any real way. There are always people who hack and mod anything, but I don't think there's much of a "community" for this one, and it's certainly not a supported idea.

Bummer. Seems like the perfect kind of game for folks to make new maps for regularly too.

This is just me throwing out a general vibe I get and is in no way backed up by any evidence, but I get the general feeling that modders don't jump on games that are already complex and run with them (in the sense that Splinter Cell's multiplayer is complex compared to something like UT2004), but would rather take that simpler game and make their own complex mods. Modders don't want to make new Splinter Cell levels, they want to get UT2k4 and make a mod every bit as complex and polished as something like Splinter Cell, but having done it on their own.

So here's a thought...
Since they rake in $5 per user to download their maps, I think that means they would actively discourage any modding. Also, why make anything for the PC when they can turn a profit from it on Live. Additionally, why make any single large add-on pack for sale, when you can sell that cookie by-the-bite at $5 a pop?
Yeah, I'm liking this less and less.

Lord Ebonstone (I assume you're the same one from GoneGold), what muttbunch means by "you're getting plenty in the end" is that you're being "bent over" as they say....
