I was checking out the new screenshots over on the WH40K website, and it certainly looks like it has a ton of potential. Were they showing this on the floor? I guess there's plenty of room for them to screw it up and make it boring and repetetive, but I've got hope for it. I am curious about how the actual gameplay works, as far as are the missions setpiece deals, do you purchase troops before the mission starts - or god forbid construct stuff. If this game has any resource gathering... boo.

Recently I've gotten back into playing console stuff - and last night I picked up the pre-order demo for Front Mission 4. I really liked 3, so figured 4 was a natural. Recently hooked the PS2 into my new 5.1 system and the a/v in the rendered scenes in FM4 were pretty amazing. Hell, I didn't want it to stop, just turn into a 2 hour anime giant robot ass-smashing extravaganza. The game itself seems pretty decent as well, although the mecha being a very similar beige color to the surrounding terrain didn't really help me any. Needs more zoom on the tactical map.

Anyway, did they show any particular surprises/revelations about FM4, or is what I'm seeing the full extent of what goes on in the game?

Heh, I liked the picture of the marine kicking the ork in the face while firing his bolter into it.

The game looks beautiful but I really couldn't get a feel for whether it has any tactical or strategic depth. Once the battles start, it doesn't look like the player does much.

I'm interested in Dawn of War as well, but I'm a fan of the WH40K setting. I hope the gameplay is up to par.

I was trying to get my WH40K fix off Chaos Gate, which for some reason ran OK on my wife's WinXP box but not on mine. Then her power supply and motherboard died, and we ended up replacing her via-based board with an n-force2 based board, and it won't run on her box anymore. My box also has an n-force2 board.

Hm...don't suppose anyone has a copy of that old Space Hulk PS1 game for sale...? :D

Saw it at the show and had a chance to sit down with one of the devs. The transcript should be up by tomorrow and I will provide a link.

There's a shaky-cam of an E3 presentation of Dawn of War up on suprnova.org right now. I snagged it last night and it certainly is fun to watch. A lot bloodier than I expected, even for the WH40K setting. I don't think they are going to try for a T rating.

Here's some bittorrents of the E3 presentation demo:

Don't bother with the interview one. Not really any information there, the gameplay one shows the full presentation with most of the units.

Wow - that is great fun. The graphics are just barely functional, but it really shows how much fun you can have without eye or ear candy.

I wasted several hours that should have been spent writing a paper this afternoon. Thanks for putting up the link.
