We'll keep the old boards up as view-only for an undetermined length of time. If there's something there you cherish, copy it. At some point it will vanish into the haze.

I'm not so sure I should be partnering with the infamous Tom Chick, though. He's been labelled an "enemy combatant" by several game companies now. Tom, get anything from Eidos lately? If so, don't open any packages that are ticking.

So does anyone know how to edit this board? Chet sent me something that was incomprehensible. All we really want to do is get our logo up, change that silly "yourdomain.com" to Quarter to Three, and get a link back to the main page.

While their website seems to be down right now, phpbb.com's support and help section, along with various other phpbb help sites on the net, have a wealth of information to help you setup the board.

It's easy. Really. Once you learn php it's just like editing html. Only it's more like editing something in C because php is just like C in that C stands for FUN!... and so does php!

Also, you might try looking in the config file, which should be somewhere in the, um, er, right. It'll be in the admin directory, I believe. I haven't used phpbb in a while.

But, on the bright side, there's alot of good resources for you on the net, and the guest's seem eager to help.

Ah, I can finally get here. In desperation I emailed Mark to ask when it would be back up earlier this week, but the DNS change just reached Adelphia today. (I was still getting the error message every time I tried up through this morning.)

I hadn't realize just how important a distraction to a stressful day that watching Wumpus-baiting had become. :roll:

Denny, my ISP still doesn't show the change, but I can access the site through www.megaproxy.com. If you know anyone else that is in the same boat, let them know. I should go mention this in the Qt3 thread at Gone Gold. I tried anonymizer.com before, but they limit the number & type of pages you can view through them for free, which kept me off the new board.

Bizarre. The new QT3 showed up on Adelphia for a few hours this weekend, but now I keep getting sent back to the old site.

Thanks to whoever posted the megaproxy tip -- it's the only way I can access the board right now. :-(

That was me that mentioned megaproxy. I'm still using it myself, as my silly cable company still directs to the old site, too. They did direct to the new site for about an hour on Monday, but then were back to the old one. I even wrote to customer service over the weekend, but heard nothing back. Time to switch to DSL, perhaps.

I'm not sure how they pulled that off, though their idiocy continually amazes me. While the boards were down, I wanted to get on Usenet again. I had been unable to connect to Usenet for about 6 months, but hadn't really needed to chase down the problem. I eventually figured out that the cable company had changed the address of the Usenet server, but hadn't bothered to tell anyone. The customer service people and the automated help line both had the old address, which has now been corrected thanks to me. Am I the only person on their system that used Usenet? How can they have gone that long? Jebus, they should pay me instead of the other way around.

It is a relatively small company, Strategic Technologies, Inc., and they outsource their cable modem support to a local company (Al-Ter Computers), so maybe the problem lies in their Rube Goldberg approach to advanced services.

Still MegaProxying here, and it's a pain. Pretty slow, which at least means I don't have the patience to find dancing Calvin & Hobbes animations to link to.

Sometimes ISPs will have multiple DNS servers. When we changed the hosting site of one of my company's web sites, one DNS server showed the change the next day. The next one didn't catch on to the change until a few days later. It was 50/50 as to which site I would get at a particular moment in time.

However, it's been over a week now, and the change should have propagated by now. Mark, any chance you can email the folks hosting this site and let them know that users from two different cable companies on opposite sides of the country aren't getting the updated DNS info? I wonder if they can "send out the change" again?
