Ben Foster and Woody Harrelson are soldiers tasked with notifying the next of kin of killed soldiers. Is The Messengers a war film? A buddy story? An art house movie? Whatever you want to call it — we wrestle with that a bit — the three of us heartily recommend it.
If you haven’t seen The Messenger, join us for this week’s 3×3: movies that recommend other movies. It starts at the 57-minute mark.
Next week: Prince of Persia

You probably haven’t seen 44 Inch Chest, which just came out on DVD. You should do something about that. Then you can listen to our podcast about this brutal profane poetic British amalgam of Othello, Reservoir Dogs, and Sexy Beast.
Until then, you’ll just have to fast forward to this week’s 3×3 at the 48-minute mark: movies that break the fourth wall.

Me and Kate — who you know as Athryn — discuss what happens if you go down that path leading into darkness. Then we discuss World of Warcraft.
Also on the topic of paths leading into darkness, there’s no small amount of Breaking Bad love in this podcast. Join us for your chance to win a free but lousy game on the platform of your choice.

Marley Malloy is simultaneously supercool (wait till you hear about her Master’s thesis and how she has literally licked dead people) and an uber-dork (I’m still trying to wrap my head around that stuff about Q from Star Trek). She’s also got way more hours than me logged in Oblivion, which we discuss this week. I should warn you that I don’t recommend booting up Oblivion to “take a quick look at it again”. That’s simply not how it works.
Also, stick around for the end, at which point she reveals a dark shameful secret about someone else on the forum. And congratulations to StGabe for winning Bioshock 2 in last week’s drawing.

Morgan Gee, also known as John E Motion, is from Victoria and lives in Prague. How unfair is that to those of us who live in or come from ugly places? Listen to this week’s podcast as he explains that you don’t have to be into wargames or real time strategy games to get into Close Combat.
This week’s random question is, uh, kind of weird, so I’m raising the stakes. If you win, you get my extra copy of Bioshock 2 for the Xbox 360. Which you probably already have (you do have Bioshock 2, don’t you?), but every one of us knows someone who should have Bioshock 2 and doesn’t.

Tom Chick, Christien Murawski, and Kelly Wand shout at each other about the latest Mel Gibson movie, Edge of Darkness. If that’s not the sort of thing that you want to hear, fast forward to our 3×3 this week: the best uses of the F-word in a movie. Explicit content. Duh.

Me and Nawid talk about Infinity Ward’s latest and greatest (?) shooter. All three elements of it. Plus that mission. Plus, I’m totally out of my element trying to have a conversation about comic books.
Also, listen for your chance to win a copy of Left 4 Dead 2, which you probably already have, so it’ll make a great holiday gift. And congratulations to nabeel for winning last week’s contest.
Next week: Gordon Cameron and the Ultima series.
