A view to a kill in XCOM

XCOM is elegant and simple except when it’s not. For instance, ever wonder why you are or aren’t flanking a particular alien? Like so many things in XCOM, it’s all about the cover. Check it out here.

This is much better than my method. I ended up thinking of my troopers as electrons, existing in a cloud of possible locations around their nominal visible location. That’s how they end up being shot even though there is an entire building between them and the enemy.

I still don’t get it… but, there’s nothing quite as exhilarating as having your cover obliterated by plasma and still surviving.
