September 24, 2012: wallet threat level too soon!

If you’re into playing anthropomorphic panda bears, this is the week for you! World of Warcraft’s Mists of Pandaria adds playable pandas, even if the timing is a bit awkward. Also, something something soccer something PES 13 something something FIFA 13 something.

  • Mercanis

Geez, Tom. Did you have to bring up the dead baby panda story? I had to wake up to that on the morning radio, and in my sleepy haze I had managed to forget it. Are pandas destined to go the way of the moa, living only in video games?

    Also, this seems relevant:

Is that an actual screenshot from WoW? This is the stuff of nightmares, and cannot be unseen! *shakes fist*

  • Sarkus

I keep laughing when I see box art for this expansion because I immediately think of “Kung Fu Panda,” which I’m pretty sure was not their intent.
The whole thing seems a laughably transparent attempt to appeal to the chinese market.

  • krayzkrok

At first glance that panda looks like it’s wearing a bearly transparent S&M outfit. What kind of a game is this again?

ETHER VAPOR Remaster comes to Steam for shooter(of the STGShmup variety) goodness. It’s so good it needs all caps, presumably.

Half Minute Hero: Super Mega Neo Climax Ultimate Boy joins it. It’s so good it needs all the words.

  • tomchick

Thanks for mentioning these, anon. I’m one of those jerks so elbow deep in AAA titles that I haven’t been paying attention to what’s going on with the smaller Stream releases.

  • tomchick

As if that picture wasn’t already creep enough, now you’ve got me convinced she’s wearing a see-through nightie. Ugh.

  • tomchick

Well, since you linked to it, Mercanis, I can’t help but mention that World of Warcraft has weirdly anthropomorphic panda bears, but Guild Wars 2 has flat-out, bad-ass, no-nonsense polar bears that will tear your head off if you compare them to those Coca Cola commercial polar bears.

  • Brad Grenz

    Yeah, that’s creeping me out.
