Qt3 Movie Podcast: Dredd

Can Karl Urban and his Magneto hat clean up the streets of Megacity One? What if Darkest Hour star Olivia Thirlby is along for the ride? And what if one of them is a mind-reader? Listen to this week’s podcast to discover how all that turns out. Or skip the spoilers and go straight to this week’s 3×3 of notable sums of money, which starts at the 45-minute mark and features some great picks from our listeners.

Next week: Looper

If Crystal were a method actor she would be Crystal Meth.

  • Pogue Mahone

Dammit, I totally forgot that this week’s 3×3 had audience participation. I hope you guys do that again!

  • Mercanis

Like Tom Chick’s Math Minute before it, the audience 3×3 is a fine addition to the podcast.

  • Christien Murawski

We definitely will. In fact, we will this very next week. So get your ass to Mars.

  • tomchick

Tomaso, I hope you stretched before that considerable reach! :)

It was easy to miss but Mr. Wand sent me laughing with his comment about Tom: “Oh you have such a tragic life.” He’s a quick one, that Kelly Wand.

    You guys don’t understand: I CAN’T WATCH MY BLU-RAYS!

  • Sapper Gopher

Speaking of slo-mo and futuristic law enforcement agents, the director of Bus 174 is helming the remake of Robocop. I mentioned this before, but the end of Bus 174 would be my choice for most memorable use of slow motion.

Are you sure the quarter doesn’t say 1958? 58, not 68. IMDB has it taking place in 1980 because the quarter was a 1958 quarter. Of course I’ll have to go watch it again…

That makes way more sense than my 1968 recollection. Thanks, guys! Once again, I am undone by math.

Check out this cyberpunk video game that has hit Kickstarter- 3rd World- A Cyberpunk Tale is hardcore! It’s bad-ass old school retro! We need to help make this game a reality and support independant game developers! http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1254854179/3rd-world-a-cyberpunk-tale

I can’t be disappointed, not when Dingus performs a pitch-perfect Mark Hamill impersonation.

RE: purple spandex ladyman spotted by Kelly Wand. She is arguably Vancouver’s most famous crazy person. Ordinarily she rollerblades everywhere. sometimes she directs traffic. All crazy people should be so amusing.

also, welcome to vancouver kelly wand.

  • Christien Murawski

I missed this post last week, and only saw it because of alexb’s excellent information about Vancouver.

Great. Now I’m the Mark Hamill of the podcast. This is a surprise to no one, I’m sure. I suppose we must now get on with the business of casting Tom and Kelly. For now, I recuse myself (said in the Tosche station voice, natch).

  • Scott McNeill

Hmm…I recall Tom reciting some Tarkin lines before, but he’ll need a little less smirk and a little more dour to pull it off. Kelly’s voice is hard to place in Lucas’ world, but I bet that he could be a serviceable Han.

  • Christien Murawski

I wish I could say the same, but he’s more machine now, than man…

  • KellyWand

Ty! Love it here. Rain, huh.
