Qt3 Movie Podcast: The Expendables 2

In The Expendables 2, a bunch of former movie stars stand around shooting guns at stunt men and then saying various things that Kellywand will reenact in this week’s synopsis. Plus, we solicit advice from folks who sell movie tickets. This week’s 3×3, our choices for best shutdowns, begins at the 46-minute mark.

Next week: The Master

  • Chris

Really glad you uploaded the podcast so quickly this week. Need my fix. Thanks.

  • John Roberdeau

So do you guys not see interesting movies anymore because they aren’t playing where Kelly lives, or what? No Cosmopolis, no The Ambassador, no Compliance, no Bachelorette… Wait, you didn’t see Cosmopolis, did you? I at least hope you’re seeing The Master next week.

There sits the thin, leathery line between us and a 1000 years of darkness

What, The Expendables 2 isn’t an interesting movie?

But, yeah, we’re a bit limited by Kellywand leaving Los Angeles. We didn’t see Cosmopolis. Do you recommend any of those movies, John? I’m already sold on Compliance, but let me know if you recommend any of the others you mentioned.

  • John Roberdeau

I actually haven’t seen any of them, they just struck me as movies you were more likely to see than Expendables 2. Actually, The Ambassador is, I’m pretty sure, a documentary, though a fascinating sounding one, so it has no place on a podcast about movies (you are ridiculous).

Bachelorette is on VOD (though I guess maybe not in Canada), so you can probably watch that anyway. From what I understand, it’s easy to compare it to Bridesmaids, in that it is a comedy about women in a wedding party, but it is supposed to be a much darker movie. It’s based on a play and written/directed by the playwrite, who was also a writer on Terriers. It’s a Gary Sanchez movie and Lizzy Caplan is in it, if either of those things interest you.

Cosmopolis seemed like a sure thing, though — you guys all love Eastern Promises (not to mention how much you like Shivers). Sure, Cronenberg doesn’t pull guns out of chest-vaginas too often any more, but he’s usually interesting.

    Kelly Wand’s tour de force.

Tom, you should be able to transfer the recording of the ticket seller you made with your iPod touch using iTunes. Plug in your iPod, open iTunes, go to the Applications tab and scroll down and click the recording app. There should be a list of documents (recordings) which you can now save to your computer.

  • tomchick

Hmm, I hate to turn this into iPhone tech support, but it’s not working for me. I see the app (SpeakEasy) in the app list, but there’s apparently no way to interact with it. It might be that I’m using the free version, and they don’t want you to get that functionality until you pay for one of the upgraded versions. But I’ll definitely figure out a way to transfer the audio if we do this again. It’s kind of pointless to record the conversation without getting to play it for anyone…

  • MikeO

God, that opsis had me rolling, and I don’t plan on seeing the movie. I feel like I’ve seen the best parts already after hearing that.

  • Christien Murawski

What version of SpeakEasy are you using? Version 1.3.0 is supposed to have a WiFi button in the upper corner of the recording that allows you to share it with other computers on your network.

I think I’ve used Simonout’s method with the regular old “Voice Memos” app that comes on the iPhone.

  • KellyWand

Thanks, guys. But I’m a worse voice actor than anyone in that movie. And this universe. Stupid universe.

  • Christien Murawski

Knowing you, you probably won’t think this is a compliment, but you are a better voice actor than everyone in that movie.
