Qt3 Movie Podcast: Lawless

Tom Hardy, Shia LaBeouf, and another guy make moonshine and drive it around in the olden days, back when cars had running boards and men wore Indiana Jones hats. We consider all this and then consider the best use of famous landmarks for this week’s 3×3, which starts at the 38-minute mark in case you want to avoid Lawless spoilers.

Next week: The Expendables 2

North by Northwest’s title is absolutely from Hamlet. The shifting nature of reality is a theme throughout the movie. One of my favorites, mainly because Cary Grant is surprisingly good in the comedic lead role.

Does Petra count? It’s in keeping with your accidental Indiana Jones theme (unless you mentioned it and I am writing this post prematurely).

I would really like to see Lawless as it’s written by Nick Cave.

My biggest problem with Lawless was that I couldn’t understand half the words they were saying.

After that it seemed like the progression between scenes was disjointed, if that makes sense. I often couldn’t tell if the next scene was seconds, hours, days after the previous, or where it fit into the progression of ideas in the film. I don’t know how else to explain it.

Kelly’s reminding me of Plinkett from Red Letter Media more and more with his reviews. Nothing as obvious as his comment about Clean Slate in the Dark Knight Risesis, but a few of his snarky remarks were reminiscent of everyone’s favorite slovenly, detail-obsessed pedant.

With an explanation like that, Murawski is welcome to break the 3×3 every week.

Malaprops are public domain! I steal a lot from Gary Franklin, but it’s not actionable because I’m his mentee.

Don’t get me wrong, I love it. No one listlessly misidentifies actors like you, Kelly.
