Your Daily McMaster: Game for Cats

I usually handle the editorial content around my house, but in some cases, I have to call in an expert like Murray. Although he’s orange and adorable, he’s also a professional mouse killer. This is his review of Game for Cats for the iPad.

  • Pogue Mahone

Pretty cool! Who you got lined up to review A Machine for Pigs?

I don’t know about your cat, but mine has claws, I love my ipad, so uhm I think I won’t try this anytime soon.

  • Fraser Wilson

My cat’s claws don’t scratch the screen (that I’ve noticed). He’s a bit of a wimp though.

  • Nixxter

Murray is one determined cat! Good review Murray.

Just want to get in before the cat haters/cat lovers/PETA squabble breaks out. That video is adorable. My cat (Hadley Catpaws, with the genetic Hemingway cat extra front paw toes) would kick Murray’s ass at it though, I have an iPad coming in August so I’ll challenge you then!

Hold on a sec. Do you have a separate Gamecenter account for Murray, or has he been helping you with your score on other games as well?

  • Mr.GRIM

How does this compete with a 1$ laser pointer, usable on any surface, and does not involves a cat clawing at your beloved iPad.

And now the happy task of wiping cat-dribble off a retina screen.

Questing involves grinding the same version of kill ten rats over and over again. 1 Star

  • Kevin Cardoza

My cat got bored with it after 5 minutes. I’m sick of you posting Murray’s reviews on this site when it’s obvious he’s a biased reviewer and probably gets paid off by Apple.

Hahaha, well there’s a reason the video is 2 minutes long. He really likes it, but then kind of quits after a bit.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jason-McMaster/607680289 Jason McMaster

    Truth.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jason-McMaster/607680289 Jason McMaster

Murray doesn’t really hurt the screen at all.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jason-McMaster/607680289 Jason McMaster

Truth. One of my other cats, Floyd, just laid down in front of the iPad and started licking the screen.

Hahaha, yeah, Murray gets winded after a few minutes. He always comes back, though!

So, according to my cat behaviorist (shut up), who is sort of a Robert Sapolsky of cats, toys like this, and laser pointers, are very probably not good for cats. Cats build up a lot of stress chasing after prey, and if they never catch anything, they don’t release that stress. It’s important for their physical and psychological well-being that they get to grab something and bite it and kick it at some point in their play.

I rarely play with them with a pointer or anything and most of them aren’t that into it. I can see that, though.

The worst thing to come out of this game is the fact that now Murray won’t stop begging to play with the iPad.
